How to cancel subscriptions on Android (Google Play)
When Google Play bills you for a subscription, you cancel it in Google Play, not with the company that makes the app. Google's steps are below, followed by the 153 services in our library that Google Play can bill, each with its own guide.
Google's steps
Android phone or tablet
- On your Android device, open your subscriptions in Google Play.
- Select the subscription you want to cancel.
- Tap Cancel subscription.
- Follow the instructions.
Computer
- On your computer, go to subscriptions in Google Play.
- For the subscription you want to cancel, click Manage.
- Click Cancel subscription.
- Within the confirmation pop-up, select a reason.
- Click Continue.
- When access ends
- You keep access until the end of the period you paid for. Google's example: a one-year subscription bought on January 1 and cancelled on July 1 lasts until December 31.
- Uninstalling
- Uninstalling the app doesn't cancel the subscription.
- Refunds
- Google says past subscription payments can't be refunded, with some exceptions in Google Play's refund policies.
