Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply to stackcut.io, the results app at stackcut.io/app, and the Stackcut Chrome extension ("Stackcut"). By using Stackcut you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. You must be 18 or older.
It's a beta
Stackcut is in public beta. Features may change, break, or stop working, and some features are limited: Deep scan is open only to Google accounts on our test-user list, and bank connections through Plaid need an invite code. We may limit how many audits you can run. We may change or end the beta at any time.
Estimates, not advice
- Stackcut gives estimates only. Savings figures, prices, build costs, running costs and payback times are estimates based on list prices, your receipts, your card charges and your answers. They can be wrong.
- AI classification can misread an email or a charge. Check each subscription and each recommendation before you act on it.
- Stackcut is not financial, tax, legal or accounting advice.
- Stackcut never cancels, changes or pays for anything on your behalf. You decide what to cancel, switch or build, and you do it yourself with each vendor. Check each vendor's cancellation and refund terms first.
Your data
Your data stays yours. You let us process it only to provide Stackcut, as described in the privacy policy. You can delete your scan at any time with Delete my scan on your results page. We don't sell your data.
Only scan accounts, and upload statements, that are yours or that you are allowed to use.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- access someone else's email, card or bank data without their permission;
- get around rate limits, invite requirements or other limits, or start audits with automated scripts;
- probe, overload or disrupt Stackcut or its providers, or try to reach data that isn't yours;
- copy Stackcut's product index or recommendations in bulk to build a competing dataset;
- use Stackcut for anything unlawful.
We may suspend or delete audits that break these rules.
Specs and builds
"Replace with AI" gives you a spec and a cost estimate. You may use the spec however you like. You are responsible for what you build from it and how you run it, including security, data you move out of the tool you replace, and that tool's terms of service. Specs are provided as they are, with no promise that a build will work or cost what we estimated.
Other services
Gmail, Chrome, Plaid, your bank and the vendors in your stack have their own terms, which also apply when you use them. Stackcut is not affiliated with or endorsed by the vendors it names. Product names and trademarks belong to their owners.
Fees
The stack audit is free during the beta. If we add paid features, we'll say so clearly before you pay for anything.
Disclaimer
Stackcut is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that Stackcut will be uninterrupted, error-free or that it will find every subscription.
Limits of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Stackcut and the people who run it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, savings, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Stackcut or from decisions you make based on it, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for any claim about Stackcut is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 US dollars.
Some places don't allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
You agree to cover claims against Stackcut that come from your breaking these terms or the law.
Ending use
You can stop using Stackcut at any time. Delete your scan from your results page and remove the extension. We may suspend or end access to Stackcut, or to an audit, if you break these terms or if we end the beta. The sections on estimates, specs, disclaimer, limits of liability and governing law continue after that.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you and we agree to those courts' jurisdiction.
If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we change these terms, we update the date at the top. Using Stackcut after a change means you accept it.
