How to cancel OneDrive

Cancel at account.microsoft.com/services: find the subscription, select Manage, then Cancel and follow the page. Apple and Google Play purchases cancel with them. Gotcha: storage drops to the free 5 GB; over it, files turn read-only, Outlook.com mail stops, and OneDrive may be deleted after 6 months.

The short answer

  • Where: Go to Subscriptions and sign in with the Microsoft account you used to buy the subscription (account.microsoft.com).
  • When it ends: You can keep using the product until the subscription expires.
  • Billed by someone else? Cancel with them instead: Apple or Google Play.
  • Before you go: export OneDrive files and folders. What to save
  • Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

Export first

  • OneDrive files and folders: On the OneDrive website, select the files or folders, then select Download in the top navigation (A .zip file when you download several files or folders). OneNote notebooks can't be downloaded support.microsoft.com

What happens to your data

What you lose

  • Storage above the free 5 GB of cloud storage
  • If over quota: uploading, editing and syncing new OneDrive files, and sending or receiving Outlook.com email

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/onedrive.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.

Delete your account (separate from cancelling)

Cancelling stops the payments; deleting removes the account and its data. Delete-account page (rated easy).
