How to cancel RescueTime

Cancel Solo Focus or Solo+ under Account Settings, then Billing, with the Cancel my subscription link; paid features last to the end of the billing cycle, then the account reverts to free Lite. Apple or Google subscriptions are cancelled, and refunded, through that store. Refunds cover first purchases only.

The short answer

  • Where: Click your display name in the top-right corner and choose Account Settings.
  • When it ends: Paid features remain available through the end of the current billing cycle, then the account reverts to the free Lite plan and you won't be charged again.
  • Billed by someone else? Cancel with them instead: Apple or Google Play.
  • Before you go: export Your activity history. What to save
  • Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

Export first

  • Your activity history: Use RescueTime's Analytic Data API with your API key to query your activity history over a time range (JSON or CSV). Lite accounts can only view the past two weeks of data, so export before a paid plan ends help.rescuetime.com help.rescuetime.com

What happens to your data

Not stated for cancelling. Deleting the account permanently erases it and all of its data.

What you lose

  • Focus Sessions, alerts, offline tracking and detailed activity tracking, once on Lite
  • Viewing data older than two weeks, on Lite
  • Everything, if you delete the account; this cannot be undone

Cancel, by who bills you

Pick the route for whoever charges you: the name on your card statement or receipt tells you.

Keep it for less

Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.

  • Free plan Lite is free, with basic tracking and reporting, but no Focus Sessions, alerts, offline tracking or detailed activity tracking, and only the past two weeks of data help.rescuetime.com
  • Cheaper plan Switch to the free version on the Billing page; you keep Solo Focus or Solo+ features for the rest of the billing cycle and aren't charged again unless you upgrade help.rescuetime.com
  • Pay yearly Annual plans cost less; Solo is $84 USD a year on annual billing. Switching between monthly and annual takes effect when the current cycle ends rescuetime.com help.rescuetime.com
  • Fewer seats On team plans, owners and admins can remove members at any time under Organization Settings, then Members; credits for removed members depend on the plan, so ask support help.rescuetime.com

For AI agents

  • The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
  • Cancelling keeps the account on the free Lite plan; deleting the account (also under Billing, or Data & Privacy) permanently erases it and its data
  • Erasing logged time keeps the account and plan but permanently deletes the activity data
  • On team plans the account owner is billed for the whole team; members can't manage billing
  • New teams get a two-week free trial and aren't charged if they cancel before it ends; individual paid plans have a 14-day trial with no charge if cancelled before it ends
  • Subscriptions bought through Apple or Google are cancelled and refunded through that store

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/rescuetime.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.

Delete your account (separate from cancelling)

Cancelling stops the payments; deleting removes the account and its data. Delete-account page (rated easy).

Not confirmed yet

  • How the owner cancels a Team or Team+ plan isn't described in RescueTime's help center; the team billing article covers trials and removing members only
  • How invoice-billed team accounts (100 or more users) end their contract isn't documented publicly
  • Monthly prices for Solo, Solo+ and team plans aren't in quotable text on the pricing page, so only the annual Solo price is cited
  • How long RescueTime keeps data after a plan is cancelled, rather than the account deleted, isn't stated
