The short answer
- Where: Visit dayone.me/settings in a browser and sign in to your Day One account (dayone.me).
- When it ends: You keep Silver or Gold features until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
- Billed by someone else? Cancel with them instead: Apple or Google Play.
- Before you go: export Journal entries. What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- Journal entries: Export from Day One; exporting is included in every tier, including the free Basic tier, so it stays available after cancelling (PDF, JSON or plain text) dayoneapp.com
What happens to your data
Entries are never deleted or purged when a subscription expires; media already added stays viewable and playable on any tier.
What you lose
- On a lower tier, recording or attaching new audio, adding new videos and attaching new PDFs
- Other features that aren't in the tier you return to, such as more than one photo per entry on Basic
- On Apple, your original price: if you turn auto-renew back on later, Apple may renew at the current price
Cancel, by who bills you

Keep it for less
Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.

For AI agents
- The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
- Cancel where you bought the subscription: the website (Stripe), the App Store, or Google Play
- The Stripe portal only cancels; refunds for website purchases go through Day One support
- For Apple subscriptions, turning off auto-renew is treated the same as canceling, and turning it back on may renew at the current price
- Cancel a free trial at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid being charged
- Silver and Gold are yearly plans; monthly plans aren't offered
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/dayoneapp.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
Delete your account (separate from cancelling)
Cancelling stops the payments; deleting removes the account and its data. Delete-account page (rated easy).
