How to cancel Todoist

On the web: avatar, Settings, Subscription, Cancel plan, pick a reason, Cancel subscription. App Store and Google Play subscriptions cancel there. The plan runs to the period's end, then drops to Beginner (tasks are kept). Monthly payments aren't refunded; yearly plans get a full refund within 30 days.

The short answer

  • Where: Log in to your Todoist account on todoist.com and click your avatar at the top-left (todoist.com).
  • When it ends: The plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, then the account is downgraded to the Beginner plan; choosing the yearly refund ends it immediately.
  • Billed by someone else? Cancel with them instead: Apple or Google Play.
  • Before you go: export Backups of all your active projects. What to save
  • Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

Export first

  • Backups of all your active projects: Click your avatar, then Settings, open the Backups tab and click Download next to a backup (ZIP file with one CSV file per active project). Automatic backups are made only on a paid plan; after the downgrade to Beginner no new backups are made, but earlier ones stay downloadable todoist.com

What you lose

Keep it for less

Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.

  • Free plan Drop to the Beginner plan: you keep all tasks, projects and comments, but lose Pro's higher usage limits todoist.com
  • Pay yearly Paying yearly for Pro costs around 30% less than paying month to month todoist.com

For AI agents

  • The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
  • Retention step: The flow asks you to choose a reason for the cancellation (feedback optional) before Cancel subscription
  • Check where you pay: website, App Store or Google Play subscriptions are each cancelled in that place
  • Pro bought through the Microsoft Store doesn't auto-renew, so there's nothing to cancel there
  • Uninstalling the app does not cancel a Google Play subscription
  • Yearly plans: cancel within 30 days of purchase or renewal to get a full refund
  • Only team admins can cancel a Business subscription
  • PayPal is no longer offered as a payment option
  • Todoist has no student, family or nonprofit discounts

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/todoist.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.

Delete your account (separate from cancelling)

Cancelling stops the payments; deleting removes the account and its data. Delete-account page (rated easy).
