The short answer
- Where: In the Granola app, go to Settings, then Billing (if you don't have the app, log in on the web to reach Billing).
- When it ends: The subscription continues to the end of the current billing cycle (the end of the month from your last payment date); then the workspace moves to the Basic (free) plan.
- Contract notice: Unless your Order Form says otherwise, the subscription renews automatically for one-year terms; written notice (email is acceptable) at least 30 days before the current Subscription Period ends stops the renewal. How to give notice
- Before you go: export Your notes: title, summary, transcript and other basic details for each note, including notes older than 30 days hidden on Basic. What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- Your notes: title, summary, transcript and other basic details for each note, including notes older than 30 days hidden on Basic: Open Settings, click Profile in the sidebar (under Preferences), then Generate CSV; a download link arrives by email (CSV). Only notes with a summary (deleted notes excluded); the email link lasts 24 hours; one export per 24 hours per account; each person exports only their own notes, and admins can't export members' notes; on Enterprise plans export is off by default until a workspace admin turns on Allow exporting data in workspace settings docs.granola.ai
What happens to your data
The workspace moves to Basic (free): notes older than 30 days are hidden in the app but still included in the CSV export. Deleting the account permanently removes it and all associated data.
What you lose
- Note history older than 30 days in the app
- Integrations other than Slack
- Manual Chat model selection (Basic is Auto only)

Keep it for less
Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.
- Free plan Basic (free) keeps your account and notes, but the app shows only the last 30 days of note history, Slack is the only integration and Chat model choice is Auto only docs.granola.ai docs.granola.ai
- Fewer seats You pay per active seat (pending invitations don't count); removing members adjusts the seat count with proration docs.granola.ai
- Discount program Accepted startups and students get 12 months of Granola Business free docs.granola.ai

For AI agents
- The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
- If Billing shows the billing contact's email instead of a Manage button, ask that workspace admin to cancel
- A free trial that ends without subscribing moves to Basic on its own: nothing to cancel
- Each person must export their own notes (admins can't export members' notes); the CSV includes full history even on Basic
- Deleting the account is permanent and can't be undone: export first
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/granola.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.

- Enterprise cancellation steps aren't in the help center; the route uses the sales contact the docs give for annual contracts
- Refunds for self-serve plans aren't covered in the help center
- Granola's iOS help doesn't mention in-app purchases, so there is no App Store route
- No confirmation email or on-screen status after cancelling is documented
