How to cancel Databox

An Admin cancels in Settings > Billing: Cancel Subscription at the bottom, then Cancel Subscription again in the popup. The plan runs to the end of the paid period, then syncing stops. Emailing Databox doesn't count as cancelling, and deleting the account (owner only) erases everything permanently.

The short answer

  • Where: Sign in and go to Settings > Billing.
  • When it ends: At the end of the current billing cycle: the end of the month on monthly plans, or the end of the quarter or year already paid for. Data keeps syncing until then.
  • Before you go: export Datasets (data synced from your data sources). What to save
  • Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

Export first

  • Datasets (data synced from your data sources): Go to Data Manager > Datasets, find the dataset and select Export data, choose the columns to include, click Export data, then Download or Copy URL (CSV only). Only on select plans; data can't be exported straight from a data source, only from a dataset; the download URL works for 30 days help.databox.com
  • Your account's data, on request: Before closing the account, ask Databox support (in-app chat or help@databox.com) for a data export. Provided case by case, where technically feasible help.databox.com

What happens to your data

Synced data stays while the account is active; if the account is later closed, data is kept for a 30-day retention period and then permanently deleted. Deleting the account removes it permanently. The Terms (last updated 2023) instead say User Content is deleted immediately upon cancellation.

What you lose

  • New data from your data sources once the subscription ends; gaps can appear, and metrics with historical data limits can be permanently affected
  • On some plans, creating new connections, adding data sources, and building datasets and custom metrics
  • If you delete the account: all data, settings and content, and access for every user on it

Cancel, by who bills you

Pick the route for whoever charges you: the name on your card statement or receipt tells you.

Keep it for less

Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.

  • Free plan The Free plan keeps 1 user, 3 data sources, 1 dashboard, 10 custom metrics and 50 AI credits a month databox.com
  • Cheaper plan An Admin can move to a cheaper plan in Settings > Plans (Change plan in the Your subscription box). It takes effect immediately; the unused part of the period is credited toward your next invoice, and features not in the new plan are restricted at once. Data isn't deleted help.databox.com
  • Pay yearly Quarterly billing includes a 10% discount and yearly billing a 20% discount help.databox.com

For AI agents

  • The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
  • Only an Admin can cancel or change the plan; only the Account owner can delete the account
  • An email or phone request doesn't count as cancelling: the Terms say you must cancel through the website
  • Cancelling is not deleting: the account and synced data remain after the plan ends. Delete the account only if you are leaving for good
  • AI credits keep renewing monthly until the subscription ends, even if you cancel mid-term on a quarterly or annual plan
  • Downgrades take effect immediately, but cancellations take effect at the end of the paid period
  • A trial with no payment details added simply stops syncing and pauses reports at the end of the 14 days
  • To undo a cancellation, click Reactivate in Settings > Billing

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/databox.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.

Not confirmed yet

  • The Terms of Service (last updated April 2023) conflict with the current help center and pricing FAQ: they say a mid-cycle cancellation takes effect immediately and User Content is deleted on cancellation; the packet follows the newer help and pricing pages and notes the difference
  • How Custom (contract) plans are cancelled, and any notice period for them, is not documented
  • Whether deleting the account also stops billing is not stated
  • No confirmation email for cancelling is described
  • Databox's help mentions no app-store or marketplace billing, so there is no Apple, Google or partner route
