The short answer
- Where: From the left panel, scroll down and click Settings, then select Billing & Plan (app.beehiiv.com).
- When it ends: The current plan remains active until the end of the billing period. The account then moves to the selected plan; downgrading to Free keeps the account and content in place, subject to Free-plan feature changes..
- Before you go: export Subscribers (a basic version, or the full version with more data points). What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- Subscribers (a basic version, or the full version with more data points): In Settings, click Export Data, then Export All Basic Subscribers or Export All Subscribers; you get an email with a download link when it's ready (CSV). Admins only; available on all plans; download links are valid for 24 hours beehiiv.com
- All posts: In Settings, click Export Data; under Export Posts, click Export All Posts (CSV). Admins only; download links are valid for 24 hours beehiiv.com
What happens to your data
Downgrading to Free keeps the account and content in place, but feature changes apply: podcast analytics prefixes are deleted. With the current Website Builder, published custom pages are unpublished but stay saved and editable; with the Legacy Website Builder, custom pages remain in global navigation but cannot be accessed or edited. After account cancellation beehiiv is not required to keep or make available any data, and deleted workspaces and accounts can't be recovered.

Keep it for less
Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.

For AI agents
- The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
- Retention step: An eligible monthly-billed account may see a pause option while confirming a downgrade; its exact control label is not documented
- Only workspace Admins can change the plan; only workspace owners can delete a workspace or publication
- All sales are final and there is no prorated refund, so cancel before the next renewal; a support ticket can ask for a refund exception, but it isn't guaranteed
- The help pages don't say whether deleting a workspace ends a paid plan: downgrade to Free first
- Remove custom domains before deleting a workspace or the account
- Export subscribers and posts first: the download links last 24 hours
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/beehiiv.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
