How to cancel Ahrefs

The Owner or an Admin cancels under Account Settings → Billing → Subscriptions. The plan runs until the day before the next billing date, then the account drops to the free tier. There's no pause and no refund by default, and deleting the account needs a separate request to support.

The short answer

  • Where: Sign in and go to Account Settings → Billing, where your subscriptions are listed (app.ahrefs.com).
  • When it ends: At the end of the billing cycle (the day before the Next billing date shown on the subscription); the account then moves to the free tier automatically and no further charges occur.
  • Before you go: export Report graphs and tables (anything with an Export button), such as Site Explorer and Keywords Explorer results. What to save
  • Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

Export first

  • Report graphs and tables (anything with an Export button), such as Site Explorer and Keywords Explorer results: Click Export at the top right of the graph or table (in some tools, such as Keywords Explorer, it's in the three-dot menu); for tables, choose the number of rows and the format (CSV for graphs; table exports offer format options, and Keywords Explorer can export to Google Sheets). Exports count against your plan's Export rows per month. Ahrefs has no obligation to store or transfer your content, so export before the paid period ends help.ahrefs.com ahrefs.com

What happens to your data

Not stated for cancelling: the account stays on the free tier until you ask support to delete it. The Terms say Ahrefs has no obligation to store, extract or transfer your User Content.

What you lose

  • Paid tools and limits; the free tier keeps Site Explorer and Site Audit only for websites you verify
  • Unverified projects over the free tier's limit, which are frozen and stop working in every tool
  • Pay-as-you-go usage already accrued is still billed

Keep it for less

Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.

Site Explorer and Site Audit work only for websites you verify, with limits such as 1000 backlinks and keywords visible at once and 5000 crawl credits a month per project help.ahrefs.com help.ahrefs.com

For AI agents

  • The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
  • Only the Owner or an Admin can manage the subscription; the Owner role belongs to whoever registered the account
  • There is no pause option: cancel, then resubscribe later
  • Cancelling doesn't delete the account. Deletion needs a request to support (email from the registered address, or live chat), then a confirmation email; accounts with unpaid bills can't be deleted
  • A saved card can only be deleted after the paid period ends and the account is on the free tier (cards can be replaced any time)
  • Subscriptions bought from unauthorized resellers can be blocked with no refund
  • Ahrefs offers no free trials and no nonprofit discounts

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/ahrefs.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
