The short answer
- Where: Export what you want to keep first (see export): Account Backup isn't available on Free, and Wrike's Terms warn you may not be able to export once the account is deactivated or converted to Free.
- When it ends: The account stays on the paid plan until the current billing period ends, then switches to the Free plan automatically.
- Contract notice: Written notice of non-renewal before the current subscription term expires; otherwise it renews at Wrike's then-current rates. How to give notice
- Before you go: export Items with assignees, task and project status, dependencies and time logs. What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- Items with assignees, task and project status, dependencies and time logs: Export data to Excel, available on all plans (Excel). Descriptions, attachments and comments are left out; the file can be imported back into Wrike help.wrike.com
- Tasks, folders and projects with descriptions and time logs, Wrike-stored attachments, comments and user information: An account admin runs Account Backup to download a local backup of the data shared with them. Business, Pinnacle and Apex plans only (not Free or Team). Leaves out Recycle Bin data, blueprints, Activity Stream history and files in Box, Dropbox or Google Drive, and backed-up data can't be imported back into Wrike. Wait 24 hours between backups help.wrike.com
What happens to your data
The account switches to Free rather than closing, though the Terms warn that downgrading can lose data or add-ons and that exporting may be limited or impossible after conversion to Free. Deleting the account deletes all data for all users. After termination, the Terms say Wrike has no obligation to keep any data.
What you lose
- Paid features and add-ons (downgrading can also lose data)
- Anything beyond the Free plan's limits: one shared space and 200 active tasks
- Account Backup, which isn't available on Free
- Everything in the account for all users, once it is deleted
Cancel, by who bills you
Pick the route for whoever charges you: the name on your card statement or receipt tells you.

Keep it for less
Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.
- Free plan Wrike Free: one shared space and up to 200 active tasks, including subtasks. A paid account moves to it automatically when its billing period ends help.wrike.com help.wrike.com
- Cheaper plan Business accounts on a yearly, renewable contract with no more than 15 paid seats and no add-ons or extra services can self-downgrade to Team; the change applies at the next renewal. Other downgrades go through your Renewals Manager or Account Manager help.wrike.com
- Fewer seats Cut seats by contacting your Renewals Manager or Account Manager: reducing seats isn't allowed as a self-downgrade help.wrike.com
For AI agents
- The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
- This one needs a phone call or a chat: a browser agent can prepare it, but a person (or a calling service) finishes it.
- Retention step: Deleting the account asks you to select a reason from a dropdown
- No self-serve cancel is documented: put the non-renewal in writing to your Renewals Manager or Account Manager before the term renews
- A paid account can't be deleted until its paid period ends and it switches to Free
- Wrike Support closes paid accounts (sign in to the Help Center to reach it), but lists billing and order-form questions as outside its scope and triages them to the right contact; downgrades and seat cuts go to your Renewals Manager or Account Manager
- Formal legal notices to Wrike must be in writing, delivered in person or by certified or registered express mail, with a copy to legal@wrike.com
- No refunds or credits for unused time or downgrades
- Run Account Backup before the paid period ends: it isn't available on Free or Team
- Export before the paid period ends: Wrike's Terms say exporting may be limited once the account is on Free
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/wrike.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
