The short answer
- Where: Sign in to the Toggl Track web app and click Subscription in the left-side menu (track.toggl.com).
- When it ends: The organization stays on the paid plan until the end of the current billing cycle and isn't charged again. It then moves to the Free plan if it is within the Free plan's user limit; otherwise it is suspended.
- Before you go: export Workspace data (such as projects, clients, workspace settings and invoices). What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- Workspace data (such as projects, clients, workspace settings and invoices): A workspace admin opens Settings, then the Data Export page; a download link arrives by email (JSON; invoices as PDF). The link works only while signed in to Toggl Track and is valid for 72 hours support.toggl.com
- Time entries: Open the Detailed report and click Export at the upper right (PDF, CSV or Excel). CSV and Excel exports are a paid plan feature: export them before the plan ends support.toggl.com support.toggl.com
- Your own profile data, optionally with Timeline information: Any user opens their profile settings in the web app, clicks Export Account Data (upper right), ticks the items and clicks Compile file and send to email (ZIP file, shared by email). You must be signed in to the Toggl Track web app to open the ZIP file support.toggl.com
What happens to your data
On the Free plan data stays, but a Free-plan organization is deleted after 6 months with no new time entries (three reminder emails; 30 days to act from the first). Time entry data from a deleted organization stays on Toggl's servers for 6 months, and support can send a CSV copy in that window.
What you lose
- Paid-plan features at the end of the billing cycle
- CSV and Excel report exports (a paid plan feature)
- If the organization is over the Free plan's user limit: it is suspended and no new time can be tracked until you update payment details or reduce active users
- Closing your Toggl account permanently deletes all data in Toggl Track, Toggl Work and Toggl Focus
Cancel, by who bills you
Pick the route for whoever charges you: the name on your card statement or receipt tells you.

Keep it for less
Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.
- Free plan The Free plan covers basic time tracking for a limited number of users. An organization within that user limit drops to Free at the end of the billing cycle instead of being suspended support.toggl.com support.toggl.com
- Cheaper plan Change plan or billing frequency on the Subscription page's All Plans tab (for example, Premium to Starter) support.toggl.com
- Fewer seats Remove vacant licenses: Subscription page, three-dot control on the Toggl Track row, Manage Licenses. It takes effect immediately; deactivating or deleting a member alone does not lower the bill support.toggl.com
- Pay yearly Annual billing costs less than monthly support.toggl.com
- Student or nonprofit price Nonprofits typically get 30-50% off paid plans; students can get the Starter plan free for up to 6 months (not extendable) support.toggl.com

For AI agents
- The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
- Retention step: Confirmation screens come before the final step, which still offers to keep the subscription
- Only organization admins (the organization's creator is automatically its owner/admin) can manage the subscription; it's on the Track Subscription page, not the Admin Console
- Cancelling doesn't remove vacant licenses: they stay billed until the cycle ends; remove them with Manage Licenses
- Over the Free plan's user limit, cancelling suspends the organization: reduce active users first to land on Free
- Closing the Toggl account (Profile, Account Settings, Close account) is not the same as cancelling: it permanently deletes your data
- An owner can't leave an organization that still has other users until they remove all of them
- A 30-day trial ends on its own and drops to Free: nothing to cancel
- Export CSV or Excel reports before the paid plan ends
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/toggl_track.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
Delete your account (separate from cancelling)
Cancelling stops the payments; deleting removes the account and its data. Delete-account page (rated easy).
