How to cancel Namecheap

Untick Auto-renews under Hosting List, Manage, and let the package expire; Cancel service ends it at once and erases the data. Refunds (30 days, first-time hosting) need a Live Chat or email request after cancelling. Gotcha: the domain renews separately, and a free domain's price is deducted from refunds.

The short answer

  • Where: Sign in to your Namecheap account and open Hosting List in the left-hand menu.
  • When it ends: The package runs until its billing date; unpaid, it is then suspended and cancelled 7 days later (23 days later for Reseller packages).
  • Before you go: export A full cPanel backup: all account files, databases, email accounts and settings. What to save
  • Want to keep it for less? Cheaper plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

Export first

  • A full cPanel backup: all account files, databases, email accounts and settings: In cPanel, open the Files section, then Backup. Click Download a Full Website Backup, then Generate Backup; when a green checkmark appears next to the backup, download it. By default the backup is saved into your hosting account's home directory; you can change the Backup Destination. Back up before the package is suspended and cancelled namecheap.com namecheap.com

What happens to your data

Cancel service erases the data immediately. For Shared and Reseller hosting, Namecheap checks whether a backup is still available if you ask to reactivate; a cancelled Dedicated server's data is deleted from the server.

What you lose

  • Websites for add-on domains and subdomains, and email accounts hosted in the cPanel account, which are suspended and then terminated with the main hosting service
  • An EasyWP website and all its content, on immediate cancellation

Keep it for less

  • Cheaper plan Move to a cheaper hosting plan by contacting the Billing/Sales team via Live Chat or billing@namecheap.com. Plan changes are prorated: you get a refund or an invoice for the difference namecheap.com

For AI agents

  • The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
  • Cancelling the hosting does NOT cancel the domain: turn off the domain's auto-renew separately
  • Refunds aren't automatic: cancel the hosting package first, then ask Billing/Sales via Live Chat or billing@namecheap.com
  • Private Email and Domain Privacy have their own auto-renew settings
  • Plan and billing-cycle changes go through the Billing/Sales team, not a self-serve menu

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/namecheap.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.

Delete your account (separate from cancelling)

Cancelling stops the payments; deleting removes the account and its data. Delete-account page (rated limited).
