The short answer
- Where: In a web browser, go to Settings → Billing and, in the Your subscription section, click Manage.
- When it ends: The account stays active until the end of the current billing period, then closes automatically.
- Before you go: export Time, expenses, invoices, estimates, projects, people, clients, contractor data, profitability reports and time activity log reports. What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Fewer seats and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- Time, expenses, invoices, estimates, projects, people, clients, contractor data, profitability reports and time activity log reports: Administrators export all company time data, invoices and estimates from Settings > Import/Export; the time report (Reports > Time) exports to Excel or CSV (Excel or CSV). Administrators can export all company data. Export before closing: an immediately closed account's data is permanently removed after 10 days support.getharvest.com support.getharvest.com
- Time and invoice data, after closing the account immediately: Harvest emails the Account Owner a download link after the account is closed. The link is available for one week after the account is closed; export anything else before closing support.getharvest.com
What happens to your data
After a scheduled cancellation, data is kept for around six months after the account goes on hold, and any Administrator can restart the account within six months; if it isn't reactivated, it's permanently deleted with its data. After an immediate close, all data is permanently removed after 10 days (contact support within 10 days to restore a mistaken close)

Keep it for less
Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.
- Fewer seats Any Administrator can remove seats: Settings, Billing tab, Current plan, Remove seats, enter the seats to keep, then Schedule seat removal. The lower count takes effect on the next renewal date support.getharvest.com
- Pay yearly Paying for the year up front gives a 20% discount getharvest.com

For AI agents
- The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
- Retention step: The flow asks why you're cancelling (or closing) and for feedback before the final button
- Use a web browser: cancelling and closing aren't available in Harvest's mobile or desktop apps
- Any Administrator can schedule or withdraw a cancellation; only the Account Owner can close the account permanently
- Scheduling a cancellation keeps data for about six months, while closing immediately deletes it after 10 days: export first
- A trial that isn't upgraded after 30 days is deactivated automatically
- Check the v1 or v2 icon in Settings > Billing (Current plan): on v1 billing, switching to Free is immediate and no separate cancel steps are documented
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/harvest.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
