How to cancel Groq

A usage-billed API. On the Developer tier, downgrade to the Free tier in Console Settings, then Billing; usage charges stop at once, but the final invoice for unbilled usage must be paid first. Prepaid Service Credits aren't refundable and expire if you close the account.

The short answer

  • Where: Sign in to the Groq Console and open Settings, then Billing (console.groq.com).
  • When it ends: Usage-based charges stop immediately; the downgrade completes once the final invoice is paid.
  • Contract notice: Prior written notice; the agreement doesn't set a number of days, and termination is subject to any financial commitments in an Order Form. How to give notice
  • Before you go: export Invoices and receipts. What to save
  • Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

Export first

  • Invoices and receipts: In the Groq Console, open Settings, then Billing, then Manage Billing, and download the invoices and receipts console.groq.com

What happens to your data

Groq deletes Customer Data in its systems within 30 days after termination, unless the agreement says otherwise or law requires retention. Troubleshooting logs of inputs and outputs are kept up to 30 days, batch files 30 days unless you delete them sooner, and fine-tuning datasets and model weights until you delete them.

What you lose

  • Developer tier benefits, such as priority support and unlimited requests
  • Developer tier rate limits, which return to the Free tier limits
  • Unused prepaid Service Credits, which expire if you close the account and can't be recovered

Keep it for less

Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.

For AI agents

  • The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
  • Usage is billed monthly in arrears, so usage before a downgrade still arrives on a final invoice that must be paid
  • Billing details and invoices are under Settings, then Billing, then Manage Billing in the Console
  • A spend limit under Settings, then Billing, then Limits blocks API access at the monthly cap; it needs organization owner permissions on a paid tier
  • Fine-tuning datasets and model weights stay until you delete them; delete them yourself if you're leaving
  • Failed payments may result in service suspension

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/groq.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
