The short answer
- Where: Sign in as an Admin, open Organization Settings, then the Plan tab of the Plan & Usage section (app.datadoghq.com).
- Contract notice: At least 15 days before the Order Term expires; otherwise the order renews automatically for another period of the same duration. How to give notice
- Billed by someone else? Cancel with them instead: a partner.
- Before you go: export Customer Data after a contract or order ends. What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- Customer Data after a contract or order ends: For up to 30 days after termination, a designated Authorized User can keep accessing and downloading Customer Data, if all amounts due are paid. Shorter plan retention periods still apply, and the user may only download data datadoghq.com
- Dashboards: Open the dashboard's Configure menu (or the Share icon in the upper right) and choose Export dashboard JSON (JSON file) docs.datadoghq.com
- Logs, indexed or not: Set up Log Archives to forward ingested logs to your own Amazon S3, Azure Storage or Google Cloud Storage bucket (Compressed JSON (zstd by default, or gzip)) docs.datadoghq.com
What happens to your data
After termination, Customer Data is deleted in the ordinary course and never kept beyond the plan's retention period; earlier deletion can be requested with an organization deletion request to support@datadoghq.com.
What you lose
- Access to the organization's data once the 30-day download window after termination ends
- On the Free plan: monitoring for more than 5 hosts and metric history beyond 1 day
- Azure Marketplace: logs and metrics stop flowing to Datadog when the last Datadog resource is deleted
- Contract credits and promotional pricing: they don't carry into a renewal
Cancel, by who bills you
Pick the route for whoever charges you: the name on your card statement or receipt tells you.
Self-serve (card) plans
- Sign in as an Admin, open Organization Settings, then the Plan tab of the Plan & Usage sectionYou should see:
Plan
- Downgrade the account to the Free plan
- Optional: once on the Free plan, remove your credit card from the Plan page
- Fees
- Usage is invoiced monthly in arrears (hosts are metered hourly and billed on the month's high-water mark), so a final bill covers usage up to the change; card payments are collected near the 10th business day of each month
Contract (Order) customers
- At least 15 days before the Order Term ends, ask your Datadog Customer Success Manager not to renew (or make the changes within the Services)
- To stop all further charges, also submit a Support request to disable the account, giving the disablement date you want
- Access ends
- The order ends with its Order Term; if you keep using Datadog after that without a new order, the services continue under Datadog's standard terms and are billed at the prices on the Pricing Page
- Notice
- At least 15 days before the Order Term expires; otherwise the order renews automatically for another period of the same duration
- Refunds
- Except when the order ends for Datadog's breach or service failures, there's no refund of fees paid, and committed fees for the full term plus any usage above them become due immediately
- Fees
- Renewals of orders of 12 months or more can be repriced by up to the greater of 9% or the CPI increase; credits don't renew and promotional pricing isn't extended
Disable the whole organization
- Contact Datadog Support and ask to disable your organization account, giving the disablement date you want
- Optional: to have the data deleted sooner, send an organization deletion request to support@datadoghq.com
- Access ends
- Further expenses stop from the disablement date you ask for
Billed through Azure Marketplace
- In the Azure portal, open the Datadog resource's overview page and select DeleteYou should see:
a prompt to type yes
- Type yes to confirm, then click Delete
- If other Datadog resources map to the same Datadog organization, delete those too: until the last one is gone, billing through Azure continues for the others
- Confirm it worked
- Datadog support reaches out to confirm next steps with your account
- Access ends
- Deleting the only Datadog resource mapped to the organization stops logs and metrics and all Datadog billing through Azure

Keep it for less
Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.
- Free plan Downgrade to the Free plan: up to 5 hosts with 1-day metric retention datadoghq.com docs.datadoghq.com
- Cheaper plan Move to a lower plan from the Plan tab; to add or remove paid features that aren't part of standard plans, contact your account representative or success@datadoghq.com. Azure Marketplace customers can pick another plan with Change Plan on the resource's overview page docs.datadoghq.com docs.datadoghq.com

For AI agents
- The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
- Contract customers: send the non-renewal request at least 15 days before the Order Term ends, or the order renews for the same duration
- Usage is invoiced monthly in arrears, so a bill for the last month's usage follows the change
- You must be on the Free plan before you can remove the card on file
- Leaving an organization is not disabling it: to disable the organization, contact Datadog support (after leaving, you can't rejoin unless an administrator invites you)
- Product trials cost nothing during the trial, but usage after the trial ends is charged
- Azure Marketplace: deleting one Datadog resource only stops data for its own Azure subscription when other resources map to the same organization
- After a contract ends without renewal, any continued use is billed at list prices: stop sending data or ask Support to disable the account
- Deleting the Azure resource cancels nothing for an organization that isn't billed through Azure Marketplace: it only removes that subscription's integration
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/datadog.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.

Not confirmed yet
- Datadog's support site (help.datadoghq.com) couldn't be checked, so any cancel steps in its articles aren't covered here
- The exact buttons and confirmation for downgrading to Free on the Plan tab aren't described in the docs read
- Whether downgrading to Free on its own stops all charges isn't documented; the documented way to stop further expenses is a Support request to disable the account
- The channel for that Support request isn't specified; support@datadoghq.com is the address the MSA gives for organization deletion requests
- AWS Marketplace and Google Cloud Marketplace billing and cancellation weren't found in Datadog's docs
- Annual versus on-demand prices on Datadog's pricing page couldn't be read, so they aren't confirmed
