How to cancel Databricks

AWS pay-as-you-go: an account admin stops compute, deletes workspaces, then picks Settings, Manage your plan, Cancel plan in the account console. Google Cloud: cancel the Marketplace order. Contracts: ask your account team. Cancelling is permanent, content is deleted within 30 days, and usage to that date is billed.

The short answer

  • Where: In each workspace, export any data or notebooks you want to keep (accounts.cloud.databricks.com).
  • When it ends: On cancelling, you lose access to workspaces, notebooks and data, and the plan can't be reactivated.
  • Contract notice: The MCSA can be ended on 30 days' prior written notice only when there are no operative, outstanding orders; notice can be emailed to legal@databricks.com. How to give notice
  • Billed by someone else? Cancel with them instead: a partner.
  • Before you go: export Notebooks and folders in each workspace. What to save
  • Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

Export first

  • Notebooks and folders in each workspace: Open a notebook, then File, Export, and select the file type from the dropdown; or right-click a folder in the workspace sidebar and select Download as (Source file (.py, .sql, .scala, .r), HTML, DBC archive, Jupyter (.ipynb) or R Markdown (.Rmd); folders as a DBC archive, Zip of source or Zip of HTML). Zip source exports leave out notebook command outputs. Keep it for less

Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.

  • Free plan Databricks Free Edition is a no-cost version for students, educators, hobbyists and anyone learning or experimenting with data and AI docs.databricks.com
  • Discount program Committed-use discounts: commit to a level of usage for discounts and other benefits; larger commitments get greater benefits. To move from monthly card billing to invoice or commit billing, contact a Databricks representative databricks.com docs.databricks.com

For AI agents

  • The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
  • Cancelling is permanent: a cancelled plan can't be reactivated
  • Cancelling the Databricks subscription in AWS Marketplace does not cancel Databricks: it only removes AWS Marketplace as a payment method
  • Your cloud provider keeps billing for resources in your own AWS or Google Cloud account (such as compute instances) until you remove them
  • On a trial: terminate all compute and remove your credit card, then cancel; otherwise the account becomes pay-as-you-go once the credits run out
  • All usage up to the termination date is billed in full, so stop compute first
  • Contract and commit customers cancel through their Databricks account team, not the console
  • Azure Databricks is billed by Microsoft under your Azure subscription terms, not through the Databricks account console

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/databricks.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
