How to cancel Upstash (Redis, QStash, Vector)

Redis, QStash and Vector share one account: delete every database, index and schedule, then use Account > Settings > Delete Account (or remove the last card to drop to the free plan). Vercel-managed accounts are handled in Vercel. Gotcha: no refunds for partial months; Fixed plans bill pro-rata.

The short answer

  • Where: In the Upstash Console, delete each Redis database and Vector index you no longer need, and remove QStash schedules: each schedule trigger is billed as a message (console.upstash.com).
  • When it ends: Pay-as-you-go charges cover only actual usage up to deletion; a Fixed-plan database deleted mid-month is charged pro-rata for the days it was active, even if unused.
  • Billed by someone else? Cancel with them instead: a partner.
  • Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

What happens to your data

Deleting the account deletes all data and payment information, unrecoverably; the Terms say data is completely deleted within 6 months of a cancellation request. Inactive free Redis databases are archived after at least 30 days, with a backup you can restore.

What you lose

  • Deleted Redis databases, Vector indexes and their data
  • QStash schedules and messages you remove
  • With account deletion: the account and its payment information

Cancel, by who bills you

  3. Expect a last charge: outstanding usage is charged to the card before the downgrade; Fixed-plan databases are charged pro-rata for the days they were active

Keep it for less

Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.

  • Free plan Each product has a free tier for prototypes and hobby projects; free Redis databases include 256 MB of data and 500K commands a month upstash.com
  • Cheaper plan Remove the last card on the Account > Billing page to move the account to the free plan, if your resources fit within its limits (on a team, only owners and admins can do this) upstash.com

For AI agents

  • The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
  • Account deletion requires deleting all databases and clusters first
  • Removing the last card drops the account to the free plan only if resources fit the free limits; outstanding usage is charged first
  • A Vercel-managed Upstash account is billed and managed in the Vercel dashboard
  • Unsubscribing from AWS Marketplace with no other payment method leads to suspension after three warning emails
  • A budget (pay-as-you-go only) rate-limits the database at the cap instead of charging more; Upstash emails at 70% and 90%
  • Failed payments are retried three more times before the account is suspended

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/upstash.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.

  • How a Fixed plan's last month is billed isn't consistent across Upstash's pages: the pricing FAQ says pro-rata for the days a database was active, while the Terms say monthly plans are billed in advance with no refunds for partial months
  • How to remove the Prod Pack add-on from a database isn't documented in Upstash's docs or pricing page
  • The Vercel dashboard's own steps for removing an Upstash database or the integration aren't covered here; they would be in Vercel's documentation
  • Upstash's docs describe backups kept inside Upstash, but not downloading Redis data or Vector indexes before you delete them
  • Whether team admins (not only the owner) can delete databases or the whole account isn't stated in Upstash's account FAQ
