The short answer
- Where: First delete any custom domains and make your Teachable subdomain primary (the cancellation can't be finalized while custom domains exist), and export your student list and records.
- When it ends: At the end of the current billing cycle; paid features stay active until then, and the school then goes offline.
- Before you go: export User (student) data: name, email, last login, join date, course count, country, address, tags and more. What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Cheaper plan and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- User (student) data: name, email, last login, join date, course count, country, address, tags and more: In the admin, open Users, apply any filters and click Export CSV; the file is emailed to the school owner (CSV). The emailed file must be downloaded within 24 minutes of being sent support.teachable.com
- Course content and sales records: Download any content you don't have stored elsewhere and export sales and student records before cancelling. Admin access is highly restricted after cancelling; upgrading again (or asking support for a time-limited coupon) restores data exporting support.teachable.com support.teachable.com
What happens to your data
While the school is offline its content, settings and student data stay intact so you can re-upgrade without data loss, but Teachable doesn't guarantee access indefinitely; content is permanently deleted only if you ask for deletion or delete your account.
What you lose
- The school: it goes offline and stays offline until you buy a paid plan again (there is no free plan)
- Students' access to your content (students with active subscriptions keep access through the end of their paid periods)
- Admin access: you can't add, edit or publish products
- Custom domains, which must be deleted before the cancellation can be finalized
- Student subscriptions you cancel, which students must re-purchase if you reactivate
Cancel, by who bills you
Pick the route for whoever charges you: the name on your card statement or receipt tells you.

For AI agents
- The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
- Retention step: Before confirming, you are walked through a series of steps about the impact of cancelling, and asked to review and manage active student subscriptions
- Only the school's Primary Owner can cancel
- Cancelling the plan does not stop student subscriptions at once: they can continue, and charge students, for up to 30 days after the plan ends; cancel them on the Sales page to stop billing sooner
- Still billed after cancelling? Check for another school, a duplicate account or an undeleted Teachable subdomain, and cancel each
- A scheduled cancellation can be undone with the Resume subscription link in the admin banner
- Deleting a school (Settings > General > Delete School) is permanent and cancels its billing immediately, but doesn't refund your students' purchases
- Pending payouts owed to you are still processed after cancelling
- Students paying a school for a membership can cancel that subscription from their own account on the school; it isn't the school's Teachable plan
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/teachable.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
Delete your account (separate from cancelling)
Cancelling stops the payments; deleting removes the account and its data. Delete-account page (rated hard).
