How to cancel Sentry

An Owner or Billing member cancels, or drops to the free Developer plan, in Settings, Subscription. It takes effect at the end of the current monthly or annual term, with no refunds. Gotcha: an email or phone request doesn't count as notice of non-renewal, and terms renew automatically.

The short answer

  • Where: Sign in as an Owner or Billing member and open Settings, then Subscription (sentry.io).
  • When it ends: Downgrades and cancellations are processed at the end of the current contract cycle, and the fees for that term are still owed. Pay-as-you-go usage is billed monthly.
  • Billed by someone else? Cancel with them instead: a partner.
  • Before you go: export Query results from Discover (events and errors). What to save
  • Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

Export first

  • Query results from Discover (events and errors): Run the query in Discover and click Export Data to download a CSV; for large exports, Sentry emails a download link (CSV). Up to 10 million rows or 1 GB. Error queries in Discover need a Trial, Business or Enterprise plan. Export during the subscription term: afterwards Sentry deletes Service Data on its standard schedule docs.sentry.io sentry.io
  • Receipts: An Owner or Billing member opens Settings, then Subscription, then Receipts docs.sentry.io

What happens to your data

After the subscription term, Sentry deletes Service Data on its standard schedule, and deleted data may remain in standard backups. A closed account's data is removed after a 24-hour waiting period.

What you lose

  • The paid plan once the term ends
  • Service Data, features or capacity, when you downgrade
  • Organizations you are the sole owner of, if you close your account
  • Everything in a removed organization once its deletion runs

Cancel, by who bills you

Pick the route for whoever charges you: the name on your card statement or receipt tells you.

Cancel or downgrade the subscription

Online, self-serve Team, Business and other paid plans billed by Sentry, monthly or annually. Who can cancel: An organization Owner or a member with the Billing role.

  1. Sign in as an Owner or Billing member and open Settings, then Subscription
  2. From the Subscription page, cancel the paid plan or move to a cheaper one; without a paid plan the organization reverts to the free Developer plan at the end of the current contract
  3. If you set a pay-as-you-go budget, lower it: usage is charged only up to the budget. If you've already used more than the new amount, the budget is set to what you've used and new data is rejected; the full decrease applies from the next billing date
Access ends
Downgrades and cancellations are processed at the end of the current contract cycle, and the fees for that term are still owed. Pay-as-you-go usage is billed monthly
Notice
Cancel in the account settings before the current term ends: terms renew automatically for the same period, and an email or phone request isn't notice of non-renewal
Refunds
None: downgrades and cancellations can't be refunded, and there are no refunds or credits for partial months or unused months
Fees
All fees for the rest of the current term are still due, including monthly fees and on-demand usage. At its sole discretion, Sentry may let you cancel immediately for a lump-sum payment equal to the next three months of subscription fees

Delete the organization or account

Online, self-serve Sentry organizations and user accounts you no longer need. Who can cancel: Only Org Owners can remove an organization; each user closes their own account.

  1. Export any data and receipts you want to keep first: deletion can't be undone
  2. To remove an organization, go to the Organization Settings page and click Remove OrganizationYou should see: a confirmation prompt
  3. Confirm; the organization is queued for deletion
  4. To close your user account, open User Settings from the dropdown under your organization's name, then Account Preferences, and use Close Account. If you're the sole owner of an organization, that organization is deleted too
Access ends
A removed organization is queued for deletion after you confirm. Closing an account removes its data after a 24-hour waiting period

Created through the Vercel Marketplace

Online, self-serve Sentry organizations set up through Sentry's Vercel Marketplace integration. Who can cancel: The Sentry organization's Owner or Billing member; card changes are made by the Vercel account.

  1. Cancel or change the plan in Sentry's Subscription settings: subscription settings can only be changed within Sentry
  2. Change or remove the credit card in Vercel: card settings can only be changed there
  3. Deleting the integration in Vercel doesn't delete the Sentry organization; it permanently removes the connection between the two accounts
Access ends
As for other Sentry plans: changes are processed at the end of the current contract cycle
Refunds
None: downgrades and cancellations can't be refunded

Keep it for less

Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.

  • Free plan The free Developer plan: one user and 5k errors. Organizations that don't upgrade by the end of the 14-day free trial stay on it docs.sentry.io sentry.io
  • Pay yearly Team and Business plans cost less billed annually ("Save with annual" on the pricing page), but an annual term renews automatically and its fees aren't refundable sentry.io sentry.io

For AI agents

  • The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
  • Email or phone requests don't count as notice of non-renewal: cancel in the account settings
  • Only Owners and Billing members can change the subscription
  • Closing your user account deletes any organization you solely own; organizations with other owners are left unchanged
  • A 14-day free trial that isn't upgraded ends on the free Developer plan
  • Organizations created through Vercel: change the plan in Sentry and the card in Vercel. Deleting the Vercel integration doesn't delete the Sentry organization
  • Pay-as-you-go usage is billed monthly, even on annual plans
  • Bought through a reseller: the order details are those of the reseller's Order with Sentry, and any refund you're owed is requested through the reseller

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/sentry.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.

Delete your account (separate from cancelling)

Cancelling stops the payments; deleting removes the account and its data. Delete-account page (rated easy).
