How to cancel Retool

An admin downgrades to Free in the organization's Billing settings, which stops auto-renewal; monthly plans are billed in arrears, so a final invoice for the month's builders and internal users follows. Annual plans are cancelled through Support with no prorated refund. Enterprise renews per its Order Form.

The short answer

  • Where: Export what you want to keep first: apps (App actions menu, Export to JSON) and Retool Database tables (right-click the table's tab, Export CSV) (login.retool.com).
  • Contract notice (Annual plans): Subscriptions renew automatically for one year or the preceding term, whichever is shorter; ask Support to cancel before the term ends. An emailed notice counts the day after it is sent. How to give notice
  • Contract notice (Enterprise plans): Renewal works as described in the applicable Order Form. How to give notice
  • Before you go: export Apps (queries, components and modules). What to save
  • Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

Export first

  • Apps (queries, components and modules): In the app IDE's App actions menu, click Export to JSON or Export to Toolscript ZIP (JSON file or Toolscript ZIP). Exports don't contain resources. Retool says it has no feature to move Custom Apps off the Retool Platform, and exports can be limited by plan and data retention settings docs.retool.com docs.retool.com
  • Retool Database tables: Right-click the table's tab and select Export CSV; the browser downloads the file (CSV) docs.retool.com

What happens to your data

After the term, Retool has no obligation to keep Customer Data or Custom Apps; when you delete your account, Retool deletes all Customer Data, unless legally prohibited. Enterprise customers can ask for a copy of stored Customer Data for up to 30 days after termination.

What you lose

  • Custom Apps and Customer Data once the account is deleted
  • On the Free plan, agent runs beyond the monthly free usage: further execution fails until the next cycle

Keep it for less

Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.

  • Free plan The Free plan covers up to 5 users retool.com
  • Pay yearly Annual plans lock in a discounted rate for a set number of builders and internal users, paid up front for a year (but users can't be removed mid-term) docs.retool.com

For AI agents

  • The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
  • Downgrading to a non-paid plan in Billing settings is how you opt out of auto-renewal
  • Monthly plans are billed in arrears: expect one more invoice for the last month's users
  • Annual plans are cancelled by contacting Support, with no prorated refund, and users can't be removed from the commitment
  • Agent overages are invoiced monthly even on annual subscriptions
  • Export apps and Retool Database tables before deleting the account: app exports don't include resources
  • Only admins can switch plans

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/retool.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
