The short answer
- Where: Open the workspace's Billing page (Workspace Settings, then Billing) (railway.com).
- When it ends: All deployments in the workspace stop right away to prevent further charges; the plan stays active until the end of the billing cycle.
- Before you go: export Files stored in volumes, including database files such as SQLite. What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- Files stored in volumes, including database files such as SQLite: Browse or copy volume files from the Railway CLI with railway volume browse or railway volume files, or over sftp or scp. Volume backups can be created and restored in Railway, but the docs don't describe downloading them; wiping a volume deletes all its backups, and a deleted volume is permanently deleted within 48 hours docs.railway.com docs.railway.com
- Payment history: View historical payments on the workspace's billing page docs.railway.com
What happens to your data
Deleting the account deletes all data related to it, and the Terms warn that account termination may destroy your content. How long data is kept after a plain plan cancellation is not stated.
What you lose
- Running deployments, which stop when you cancel
- All services, environments and deployments of a deleted project
- Volume backups when a volume is wiped; a deleted volume is gone for good after 48 hours
- All account information and project data when the account is deleted

For AI agents
- The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
- Cancelling doesn't end billing at once: resource usage is billed in arrears, so expect one more invoice for the last cycle's usage
- Only workspace admins can open billing settings and delete projects, services or volumes
- To cap spending without cancelling, a workspace admin sets a hard limit on the Workspace Usage page: all workloads go offline when it's reached
- Serverless stops a service while it is inactive, which lowers its cost
- Adding members to a workspace doesn't add seat costs, so removing members doesn't lower the bill
- The saved card can only be removed after the subscription is cancelled and no invoices are pending
- Services stopped for a usage limit, used-up trial credits or a failed payment are redeployed automatically only if the issue is fixed within 30 days
- Trial accounts: stateful volumes are deleted 30 days after the trial credits expire
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/railway.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
