The short answer
- Where: Download your secrets first (see export), since access ends on termination.
- When it ends: Your notice is effective when Doppler receives it; after termination you no longer access the Service.
- Before you go: export Secrets for each project config. What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- Secrets for each project config: With the Doppler CLI, run doppler secrets download --no-file --format env (or another format) for each config; or call the Download Secrets API endpoint (JSON by default; also env, yaml, docker and others). Per project and config. After termination you can ask, within 30 days, for your Secrets to be exported in a format Doppler chooses; email support@doppler.com for instructions docs.doppler.com docs.doppler.com doppler.com

Keep it for less
Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.
- Free plan The Developer plan is free for 3 users (each extra user is $8 a month) and keeps 3 days of activity logs doppler.com docs.doppler.com
- Fewer seats The Team plan is priced per user ($21 a month each), so fewer users cost less; AI agents and non-human identities are free doppler.com
Cheaper ways to get the same job done
Stackcut prices the alternatives to Doppler from public list prices.
For AI agents
- Export secrets before sending notice: exporting needs a signed-in CLI or an API token, and access ends on termination
- After termination there is a 30-day window to request an export from Doppler
- Prepaid fees are not refunded
- Notice counts only once Doppler receives it, at support@doppler.com or its postal address
- Workplace Settings has a Danger Zone option to delete the workplace, which permanently deletes it and all its data; the docs don't say whether that stops billing, so export first and still send written notice
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/doppler.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.

Not confirmed yet
- No self-serve cancel or downgrade steps are documented: Doppler's docs and support center have no billing or cancellation article, so the only documented route is written notice under the Terms
- The answers in Doppler's pricing FAQ ("Can I cancel at anytime?", "How does billing work?", "What counts as a user?") couldn't be read, so they aren't confirmed
- Whether a cancelled subscription keeps access until the end of the paid period is not stated; the Terms only say access ends on termination
- Whether the 14-day Team trial converts to paid automatically is not stated
- Enterprise renewal and notice terms are not public
- Which workplace role can manage billing is not documented
- No marketplace (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) billing is documented by Doppler
- Whether deleting the workplace (Workplace Settings, Danger Zone) also ends billing is not documented
