How to cancel Cognito Forms

An Organization Owner downgrades to the free Individual plan in Settings, Plan & Billing; a monthly downgrade takes effect at the next billing date. Payments are non-refundable. Gotcha: annual plans are non-cancelable for the 12-month term and renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.

The short answer

  • Where: Find your organization's name at the top left of the sidebar and select Settings.
  • When it ends: At your next billing date: the pricing FAQ and the Terms say a monthly downgrade takes effect at the start of the next billing cycle.
  • Before you go: export Form entries. What to save
  • Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options

Before you cancel

Export first

  • Form entries: Click the form name in the sidebar to open its Entries page, open the Actions menu at the top right and select Export, then choose Selection, Current View or All Fields; the download starts when the export is ready, and an emailed link works for 24 hours (Excel (.xlsx)). File Upload fields and signature images aren't included; exports from unsaved entry views hold up to 50,000 entries cognitoforms.com
  • Files uploaded through your forms: On the form's Entries page, select the entries (or all of them with the top-left checkbox), then open Actions and select Download, then Uploaded Files; an email arrives with a link to the zipped folder, available for 24 hours (ZIP folder). Pro, Team and Enterprise plans only, so download before moving to Individual; up to 100 GB per download cognitoforms.com

What happens to your data

If you close the account, Cognito Forms makes reasonable commercial efforts to permanently delete it and all its data; copies may stay in residual backups for a while, and closed-account data can't be recovered.

What you lose

  • Paid-plan limits: the Individual plan allows 100 entries a month and 1 user
  • Bulk download of uploaded files, which needs Pro, Team or Enterprise
  • Everything in the account if you close it

For AI agents

  • The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
  • Only an Organization Owner can change the plan
  • Annual plans can't be cancelled mid-term: cancel before the renewal date, using the Renewal Details shown in the last two months
  • Download uploaded files before moving to the free plan: bulk file download needs Pro, Team or Enterprise
  • The Excel export leaves out file uploads and signature images
  • Don't promise a refund or credit: payments are non-refundable, and the Terms rule out prorated credits for downgrades even though the help center mentions one

Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/cognito_forms.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.

Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
