The short answer
- Where: Download any assets and invoices you want to keep, and update any apps that rely on the account: once cancelled, stored media is no longer accessible, and 30 days later it is permanently removed (console.cloudinary.com).
- When it ends: Cancelling puts the account into a disabled state, and stored media is no longer accessible. Admins can restore it for 30 days; after that, all product environments and their assets, metadata and settings are permanently removed.
- Contract notice: A fixed-term subscription stops renewing only if you send Cloudinary the prior notice your subscription terms require; the public Terms don't state the period. How to give notice
- Before you go: export All your assets (images, videos and raw files). What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Free plan and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- All your assets (images, videos and raw files): Download single assets, several assets or whole folders from the Media Library; list everything with the Admin API or Search API and download each URL; use the CLI sync command; or have the API build ZIP archives (Original files; multi-asset downloads come as ZIP files). Each ZIP holds up to 1000 assets, with a maximum size of 100 MB or your account's raw file size limit, whichever is larger cloudinary.com
- Invoices and payment confirmations (paid plans): Download them from the Invoices page in Console Settings, Billing before cancelling (PDF) cloudinary.com
- Backups of the files in your account: Store backups in your own Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage bucket. Paid accounts only cloudinary.com
What happens to your data
30 days after cancelling (or after the account is disabled), all product environments and their assets, metadata and settings are permanently removed and can't be recovered. Permanent deletion of the account and personal data before that needs a support ticket.
What you lose
- Access to stored media as soon as the account is disabled
- All product environments, assets, metadata and settings once the 30-day restore window ends
- Apps and integrations that rely on the account stop working unless you update them
- Paid features, extra users, product environments and add-ons the Free plan doesn't support (if you downgrade instead)
Cancel, by who bills you
Pick the route for whoever charges you: the name on your card statement or receipt tells you.

Keep it for less
Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.
- Free plan The Free plan includes 25 credits a month for transformations, storage and bandwidth, and you can stay on it as long as you want while keeping your assets and account configuration cloudinary.com cloudinary.com

For AI agents
- The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
- Cancelling is not deleting: a cancelled account is disabled and can be restored for 30 days; permanent deletion needs a support ticket
- Stored media stops being accessible as soon as the account is cancelled: download assets and invoices and update integrations before you start
- If the Plans page shows no cancellation option, the signed-in user lacks billing permissions: use a root user or a Billing or admin-level role
- Downgrading to Free stops the plan charges and keeps assets; cancelling removes everything after 30 days
- Add-ons are billed separately from the base plan, and unsupported add-ons block a downgrade
- The Free, Plus, Advanced and Advanced Extra plans count transformations and bandwidth over a rolling 30-day window, so a downgrade can be blocked until older usage drops off
- On the Free plan, usage above the allocation brings warnings and the account is eventually disabled automatically
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/cloudinary.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.

Not confirmed yet
- Cloudinary's docs don't say whether cancelling a paid plan ends billing at once or at the end of the billing period, or whether a final invoice for usage follows
- The notice period for not renewing an Enterprise or other fixed-term subscription is set in each customer's subscription terms, not in the public Terms of Use
- What the cancellation flow shows (reasons or offers) is not described in Cloudinary's docs
- How to move between monthly and yearly billing isn't documented; the downgrade help only says a plan with a different billing cycle needs support
