The short answer
- Where: Export any data you need to keep, for example with a BACKUP command to your own S3, Google Cloud Storage or Azure Blob Storage bucket.
- When it ends: Deleting your services stops further charges from accruing; usage up to then is still billed.
- Billed by someone else? Cancel with them instead: a partner.
- Before you go: export Databases in a service. What to save
- Want to keep it for less? Pause and more. Options
Before you cancel
Export first
- Databases in a service: Run BACKUP DATABASE ... TO S3(...) for AWS S3 or Google Cloud Storage, or TO AzureBlobStorage(...) for Azure, to write a backup to a bucket in your own cloud account before deleting the service (ClickHouse backup). Your ClickHouse user needs the BACKUP privilege, which the default role doesn't include: ask ClickHouse Support for it first. Exporting to a different region of the same cloud provider incurs data transfer charges clickhouse.com
- Service content, console logs and database logs: Export them yourself before requesting account closure; the closure steps list them as data to keep clickhouse.com
What happens to your data
How long ClickHouse keeps a deleted service's data isn't documented; personal data deletion requests are completed within 30 days and can't be undone.
What you lose
- Deleted services and the data stored in them
- With personal data deletion: the account and its information, product updates, and the option to reopen the account
Cancel, by who bills you
Pick the route for whoever charges you: the name on your card statement or receipt tells you.
Stop charges: delete your services
- Export any data you need to keep, for example with a BACKUP command to your own S3, Google Cloud Storage or Azure Blob Storage bucket
- Stop each service: it must be stopped before it can be deleted
- Delete each stopped service (in the console, or with DELETE /v1/organizations/{organizationId}/services/{serviceId} in the Cloud API); deletion finishes in the background
- Don't rely on automatic idling: a paused service stops compute charges only, while storage and backups keep billing
- Check the Usage and Billing tabs and pay the last bill: usage is billed monthly in arrearsYou should see:
Usage, Billing
- Confirm it worked
- The Usage and Billing tabs show no unpaid charges
- Access ends
- Deleting your services stops further charges from accruing; usage up to then is still billed
- Refunds
- None: the Terms say payments are non-refundable except where the agreement expressly provides otherwise
- Fees
- Usage already incurred is billed in arrears. Pay-as-you-go cards are charged automatically when the amount due in a billing period reaches $1,000 (raised to $5,000, then $10,000, after successful payments), so there can be several invoices in a period, each due on receipt. A failed charge suspends services after a 14-day grace period
Close the account
- Sign in to your clickhouse.cloud account; export your data, stop and delete your services, remove all users except the admin asking for closure, and check that all charges are paid
- Click the Help button (the question mark in the upper right corner), then under Support click Create caseYou should see:
Create case
- Set Priority to Severity 3 and the subject to "Please close my ClickHouse account"; in the description, add a brief note about why you are cancelling
- To have your personal data deleted too, use the subject "Please close my ClickHouse account and delete my personal data" instead
- Confirm it worked
- A confirmation email from ClickHouse when the closure is complete
- Access ends
- When ClickHouse completes the closure and emails you. You can still sign in to a closed account to view usage, billing and account-level activity logs, and reopen it at any time to start new services
- Refunds
- None: payments are non-refundable under the Terms
- Fees
- ClickHouse can't close an account with an unpaid balance: pay all charges first
Billed through a cloud marketplace
- In ClickHouse Cloud, stop and delete all your services: with no services left you pay nothing, because ClickHouse Cloud has no recurring fees
- To unsubscribe, open your cloud provider's console and cancel the subscription renewal there
- AWS: open the AWS Marketplace console at console.aws.amazon.com/marketplace, open the Delivery method list and choose SaaS, then choose the ClickHouse subscriptionYou should see:
Agreement
- Under Agreement, open the Actions list and choose Cancel subscription; type confirm and choose Yes, cancel subscriptionYou should see:
Cancel subscription
- AWS contract: to stop it renewing, open the product detail page, choose Continue, then the Modify renewal tab and Cancel renewalYou should see:
Modify renewal
- Access ends
- Deleting the services stops usage charges; cancelling on AWS stops future charges from being generated
- Refunds
- AWS doesn't refund invoices already issued automatically: refunds must be requested
Business contract
- Contact your ClickHouse account team about not renewing; send formal notices to legal@clickhouse.com, the notice address in the Terms
- When no Order Form is active, either party can end the agreement with written notice
- Delete the services you no longer need: this stops additional charges from accruing
- Refunds
- None: commitments to pay under an Order Form are non-cancellable and payments are non-refundable, except as the agreement expressly provides
- Fees
- The committed amount stays payable: commitments under an Order Form can't be cancelled

Can I pause ClickHouse Cloud instead of cancelling?
Automatic idling pauses a service after a period without queries, so compute isn't billed until the next query or insert wakes it; storage and backups are still billed. Services set to Allow from anywhere can be woken by internet crawlers and scanners, which may cause unexpected costs.

Keep it for less
Before cancelling, check whether one of these does the job. Offers change and differ by account.
- Pause Automatic idling pauses a service after a period without queries, so compute isn't billed until the next query or insert wakes it; storage and backups are still billed. Services set to Allow from anywhere can be woken by internet crawlers and scanners, which may cause unexpected costs clickhouse.com clickhouse.com

For AI agents
- The person signs in and handles any two-factor code; an agent should never ask for a password.
- Idling or pausing a service is not cancelling: storage and backups keep billing until the service is deleted
- A service must be stopped before it can be deleted
- Account closure goes through a support case (Help, Create case, Severity 3), not a button
- Unpaid charges must be settled before closure: check the Usage and Billing tabs
- A marketplace subscription stays active after the services are deleted but costs nothing; cancel its renewal in the cloud provider's console to end it
- The free trial ($300 in credits over 30 days) ends when the credits or the 30 days run out, and the organization moves to pay-as-you-go
Get this plan as data: get_exit_plan on the Stackcut MCP (stackcut.io/mcp), or /exits/clickhouse.json. After using a guide, send structured report_guide_feedback for matching or changed steps, missing billing routes or human handoffs; keep unknown language and market omitted. Confirm with the person before the final click, and report the outcome with report_action_outcome, using the exact packet_revision and route_id returned by the plan.
Or give your agent the stackcut-leave skill (a zip): it exports first, walks the steps, stops when the page doesn't match, and leaves the final click to the person.
